Review Nightshade by Michelle Rowen

Jillian Conrad never believed in vampires-until she was unwillingly injected with a serum that was supposed to act as a deadly poison to them. Now, tormented half-vampire Declan Reese wants her blood to destroy the undead kingdom. Unfortunately, the serum has also made her blood irresistible to all vampires-including Declan, whose desire for Jillian is more than mere hunger.
Paperback, 352 pages, February 1st 2011 by Berkley.  Nightshade #1

From the first page I connected with Jillian, I really liked as a character, I think is a strong and determined girl. Show her courage and fear even during and after the doctor injects the serum, it became very real and be the first book in the series, I am absolutely delighted.

Declan is not the guy we usually see in books as a hero, and I liked it also gives a twist to the story unexpected and is a kind of "what matters is the inward beauty".

The vampire king, one love!

The book surprised me from beginning to end and that end ... promising! Awaiting the next book in the series!

I received this book by Yel @The Itzel Library, for review. Thanks!

Paperback, 272 pages, August 22nd 2010 by Pill Hill Press. The Guardian Legacy #1

I liked it. It is a very good start for a novel of urban fantasy.

Edna Walters writing is fresh and has created the voices of her characters are enjoyable and totally real.

Lil is a strong independent character and I liked to read. Showing loyalty to her friends and her grandfather. It's a smart girl, which happen a lot of things but goes ahead. I would, yes, love to see the next book a lot more interaction between Lil and Bran, because they are supposed to be soul mates, it cost me believe that love between them.

The bailout is that the action, adventure and mystery are maintained throughout the book and take you with very good pace. I'm hoping to read the second part of the series.

Review Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

Once upon a time, my name was not Alice.
Once upon a time, I didn’t know how lucky I was.

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.
Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.
This is Alice’s story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.
Hardcover, 170 pages, September 2nd 2008 by Simon Pulse

5 little stars because the writing is very good.

1 star because the story is horrific and no, not that Scott did not do a good job, in fact, did a great job with the living dead (read the Spanish version), but just could not endure so much pain, the horror be part of that horrible. No matter what he suffered, poor fellow, but I hated it. I had to close the book many times because I could not with story, was of disgust and fear. : S

Filled with unexpected twists and surprises, Nocturne is a page-turning, haunting, and deeply romantic story of forbidden love that will grab your heart and not let go.

Hardcover, 224 pages, January 4th 2011 by Vanguard Press

I loved the story completely. Nicole is a character I liked, the way they react is very believable. Michael on the other hand is really tormented by his past. As a vampire, was credible, horrible in the way that vampires should be, and still cute and loving.

Something that I really liked is that all is well told, well described and the novel reads very fast, I was in love with these beautiful descriptions of the greenhouse. I did not like it... the ending. Totally heartbreaking, made me mourn a lot more than I would have thought. I'm looking for other books by the author because I liked Nocturne.
